Craig
Craig's journey is a tapestry woven with change, yet his unwavering love for rock 'n' roll remains a steadfast thread. Born in Burwood Hospital—a place that would later burn down—and educated in Syndal, which too met its fate, Craig grew up in the now-redeveloped outer suburbs. In the midst of this unsettling impermanence and disquiet of suburban life, music became the foundational rock to anchor him. The radio in his father’s garage was a portal to a world of hits, and TV transported vibrant musical performances into their grey suburban landscape.
When Countdown premiered in the 1970s, it unveiled a universe of colourful possibilities. Suzi Quatro’s electrifying performance crackled through the tiny speaker, igniting Craig’s obsession with glam rock. British rock icons and local bands like Skyhooks, led by a carpenter named Shirley rumored to live nearby, proved that Australians could generate the same heat.
The joy and innocence found in that music has remained etched in Craig's heart, defying the passage of time and life's myriad challenges. Recognizing his passion, Craig's parents gifted him a sleek black electric guitar, igniting a lifelong journey of musical exploration and collaboration.
For Craig, the true magic of music lies in this camaraderie. As Tom Petty famously said, “Music is probably the one real magic I have encountered in my life. There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things.” Craig’s musical odyssey began in garages, living rooms, and small local venues. His hands-on experience ultimately led him to the music industry, where he spent years immersed in the production of live and recorded music.
His primary creative outlet has been forming original bands. Though his current band isn’t performing, the itch to rock remains stronger than ever. Enter Psycho Sequinz: a collective united by commitment, loyalty, and hard work. The energy and joy generated during rehearsals translate seamlessly to the stage, inviting everyone to join in on the fun. Craig's story is a testament to the enduring power of music, a force that transcends the trials and tribulations of life, celebrating the joy it brings to all who experience it.
